Food Security

Minimal soil disturbance, mulching, and composting are just a few areas of conservation farming that will help in building the soil structure, minimising erosion, and enhancing the nutritional value of the food being grown. This helps families and communities provide food for themselves and is essential in preserving the land and caring for the environment. By becoming good stewards of the land, the land will produce healthy crops, provide food security, and potential revenue for families and communities. These tools balanced with practical discipleship training creates a biblical understanding of godly stewardship and dependence on God as provider.

Discipleship Training

Zimbabwe has a population of roughly 16,798,190 people with about 50% of the population being children under the age of 18. There is an estimate of 1.8 million orphans and many children often abandoned because of the severe spiritual and economic conditions. Discipleship is essential for developing a biblical worldview that will help families understand the importance and value that God places on each person. This creates a counter-cultural shift in how family’s function and thrive as a family unit and in community with one another. Renewing Community is committed to developing committed followers of Jesus who can make and multiply disciples and create sustainable solutions to spiritual hunger and poverty.

Community leaders have a significant voice in the development of communities in Zimbabwe. They are responsible for upholding cultural values, facilitating community development, and resolving disputes. As culture evolves and changes, many subcultures are developed which in turn leaves cultural challenges and generational gaps within these communities. The gospel along with Discipleship Training can transform community church leaders as they become biblical leaders of integrity who can lead their communities in becoming committed followers of Jesus who make and multiply other godly leaders.
