Food Security

Many children are unable to attend a full day of school because there is not enough food to sustain them throughout the day. Some rural communities will often place their children in various unpleasant employment options in exchange for money for food for the family or community. Providing options for schools, families, and communities to grow their own food will enable children to attend school on a regular basis and will inadvertently prevent families from placing their children in vulnerable positions in exchange for food. Food security is a means to healthy living, strong family foundations, and a means for generating an income.
